Yesterday, two strange headlines caught my eye.  First, ESPN ran a Madden Simulation and it turned up the Saints as the winner of the Superbowl.  Second, an inventor has created a talking sex robot.

It seems crazy to think about, but could simulated game technology become so advanced that it replaces actual sports?  Could talking sex robots become so advanced, they could replicate human relationships?   I know this seems impossible, but consider the cost of professional sports – paying the athletes, the coaches, the entire infrastructure for teams, stadiums, etc, etc.  Now consider how many pro sporting matches are boring.  What if you could guarantee drama by jigging with the computer?  What if you could compare and contrast perfectly different players from different eras?  How has fantasy football and video games already changed the nature of how we follow football?

And what of talking sex robots?  Think of how much grief sexual relationships cause us human beings.  All the times we’ve thought to ourselves – why couldn’t I just meet fill-in-the-blank?  What if you could program a robot to fulfill those human desires?  How has the preponderance of pornography on the internet already affected male-female relationships?

Technology makes life easier.  Let’s hope not all things, too easy.  Go Saints.
