Description: Sharpen your skills, broaden your knowledge, or earn credit toward a college degree. The Friday Center for Continuing Education serves lifelong learners across North Carolina and around the world. Through Carolina Courses Online , students earn college credit by taking courses electronically. Students can also earn academic credit from a distance through Self-paced Courses, a distance education program offering courses from eight institutions of the University of North Carolina and administered by the Friday Center.

Total Enrollment:

Accredidation: Carolina Courses Online is offered in three terms per year: Spring, Summer, and one combined Summer Session. Self-paced Courses can be taken any time of the year

Calendar:

Credit Options: The courses are offered for academic credit. If you need a transcript at the end of your course, you will need to request it from the University Registrar at UNC-Chapel Hill

Platform: Distance courses are offered online and via correspondence

Geographies: No restrictions

On Campus Requirements: Campus attendance is not required, however in some courses the final exam must be taken under supervision at an accredited institution of higher education or other appropriate institutional setting

  • Admin Requirements  Carolina Courses Online is open to anyone regardless of whether the individual is enrolled at UNC-Chapel Hill. Admission to UNC-Chapel Hill is not required, but you should be at least a high school senior.
  • Costs  North Carolina residents: 3 credit course - $405, 4 credit course - $540, 5 credit course - $675. Nonresidents: 3 credit course - $849, 4 credit course - $1,132, 5 credit course - $1,415
  • Scholarships  Financial aid may be available through a variety of sources
