Description: UMassOnline offers close to 80 degree and certificate programs and more than 1,500 courses online that span the disciplines for which the University of Massachusetts is best known: liberal arts, education, business and management, nursing, public health, information technology and many others.

Accredidation: Courses generally follow the campuses' standard academic calendars and begin in early fall, winter, spring, and summer.


Credit Options: Credit earned by successfully completing UMass courses from one campus can, in most cases, be transferred to other campuses, colleges, and universities. However, course credits are not automatically transferable from one campus to another

  • Tech Requirements  You must have: access to a personal computer (Mac or PC), basic computer skills, Internet connection, e-mail program and account, at least a 56 kbps modem, Java-capable browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox or Safari), Shockwave plugin (to use chat).
  • Admin Requirements  Any person with a high school diploma or its equivalent (GED) may register for courses. However, you must have a bachelor's degree to be admitted to a graduate degree program. Some courses may require prerequisite college-level work. Enrollment does not imply acceptance into a degree program
  • Costs  Generally, noncredit and undergraduate courses range from $425-$1200 and graduate-level courses range from $1390-$2010. All students, regardless of residency, pay the same tuition
  • Scholarships  Hundreds of need- and merit-based scholarships are available for University of Massachusetts undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Loans  Availability of financial aid varies depending on course status and matriculation. Check with your advisor to determine your eligibility and application procedures
