Condition & Testing
Look for these signs of wear and tear:
- Scratches and scuffs
- Chips, cracks and crazing
- Crumbs and food stains
- Dull edges on knives
- Frayed electrical cords
- Worn handles
- Rust
- Non-functioning switches
- Missing parts, manuals, boxes, etc.
Electrical appliances should be tested before being listed, unless new in box. You
don’t have to make a cappuccino or bake a loaf of bread, but do confirm that the
item powers on and the display works. Ask the owner if the item was ever serviced.
Key Details Include these details in your
listing:
- Brand
- Model name or number (if known)
- Type of item
- Color(s)
- Age (if known)
- Size or measurements (if relevant)
- Number of items in a set
- Accessories
- Packaging (e.g., New in Box)
Storage and Shipping
Use the original packaging whenever possible to store and ship an item. If original
packaging is not available, wrap pots and pans individually in bubble wrap to prevent
scratching, and cover knife blades with cardboard if they don’t come in a protective
case. Appliances should be double-boxed.
