Tickets are hot items online, especially tickets to sold-out concerts, plays or musicals and cheap airline tickets to popular destinations. However, demand for local events and performances does not extend outside of the immediate metropolitan area, making craigslist, a network of local online classifieds sites, an ideal marketplace through which to offer ticket sales.

Online marketplaces permit the sale of tickets for concerts, movies, plays, sporting and other events as well as tickets for travel and passes to amusement parks and tourist attractions. There are a few rules, however:

- If the ticket has a face value of $300 or more and the event occurs in one of the regulated states (see website above), you must include a scan of the ticket showing the face value and event date in your listing.
- Lottery tickets are not permitted for online sale.
Many airline tickets, vouchers, and frequent flier miles are not transferable or have other restrictions, so be sure to read all the terms before listing the item.

Include these details in your listing:
- Title of event/Name of performer(s) or teams
- Location
- Date
- Number of tickets
- Section, row and seat number
Single event or series (season pass/tickets, multi-day event, etc.)
Tickets should be sealed in a Ziplock bag. The bag should be surrounded by new cardboard on both sides and then slipped into a mailing envelope for shipment. Timeliness is very important in ticket sales, so consider offering express delivery as well as standard delivery options. Also, shipments should be insured and require proof of delivery.
